Born from the innovation of four Boeing engineers, Tidel’s first ever cash management product was developed in the late 1960’s for practical reasons: one of the four owned a convenience store that kept falling victim to robbery.

This product – the time-delay safe – became a deterrent for crime because it could only vend one tube at a time, effectively making emptying an entire safe impossible. As popularity in the convenience store industry grew, Tidel started painting safes bright orange, stopping potential criminals in their tracks when they saw one placed in a targeted store.

Today, some stores still have their original orange machine, a testament to the reliability and simplicity engineered into every Tidel product. And while today’s machines have adopted more modest color tones, nothing has changed about Tidel’s reputation – as sterling and solid as their cash management systems.
